DJ Talent feels the pain of fame
|
Britain’s Got Talent rapping sensation DJ Talent is seeing the dark side of his meteoric rise to national stardom. Talking to Scott Mills on Radio 1, the gold-toothed rhyme-shouter said the places he used to hang out are too dangerous for him now, and he’s only safe in prestigious celebrity venues.
Talent told the DJ: “My life’s changed dramatically. A lot of places I used to I go I can’t go to any more – I get too recognised and it’s not safe.” Painting a chilling picture, he continued: “I stick to the celebrity showbiz clubs in London. I don’t go to normal pubs or normal places because my life could be at risk.”
Still, he sounds like he’s finding comfort in his new A-list lifestyle. “It’s fantastic at the clubs. I get free champagne and meet lots of different types of people, like royalty, celebrities, millionaires – all kinds.” Among his new high society pals are injury-prone East 17 singer Brian Harvey and Andy Lysandrou. You know… from garage band True Steppers.
For a cautionary fable about what might happen to him if he makes it all the way to the Royal Variety Performance, Talent could look to the sorry fate that’s befallen last year’s champ George Sampson.
It seems that the local yoot have taken to booing the juvenile hoofer whenever he makes it back to his home town of Warrington. “They don’t like the fact I’ve moved to London,” he whimpered. “They think I’ve disowned them.”
George’s precarious position on the popularity ladder became even more apparent when he failed to feature on a list of the people Warrington was most proud of. “Even Kerry Katona came above me.”
Blimey. Talk about kicking someone when they’re down.
